LIBRI BIANCHI
Lorenzo and Simona Perrone are the authors of the "LibriBianchi". Born respectively in 1944 in Milan and in 1958 in Florence, they live and work in Milan. Lorenzo and Simona work together on the "LibriBianchi", a cycle of sculptures that are the expression of a personal artistic research that has been developing for over twenty years and that explores the world of books to strongly establish the binomial book / culture as a synonym of civilization . Lorenzo Perrone attended the "School of the Book" of the Humanitarian and the Painting School of the "Castello Sforzesco" in Milan; after moving to New York, he attended courses in graphics and cinema at the “New School” and at the “School of Visual Arts”. His professional life develops in the field of graphics and communication between Milan, London and New York. The first sculpture-books of 2000 give life to the creation of the sculptural cycle "LibriBianchi". In 2015 with the collaboration of his wife Simona - specialized in communication, design and fashion - Perrone expands his production to large installations and bronze.
The book is therefore the subject of research and raw material of their work. Through the use of stoneware, glue and acrylic paint, the Perrones transform books into sculptures. The book is thus shaped and translated towards an accentuated symbolism, each time reinforcing the binomial Book / Culture. Covered in white, each book becomes an Archetype and silently screams to be read otherwise.
